LAYER

A) Layer classification

• Each layer must contain only one type of element:
  • Wall layer → walls line only
  • Window layer → windows line only
  • Door layer → doors line only
• Remove unnecessary lines such as finish lines, molding lines, center lines, and guide lines.
  • If they must remain in the file for future editing, do not place them in wall, window, or door layers. Place them in a separate layer.
  • Examples:

B) Elements that must be removed: Patterns & Fills

Remove all patterns or fills used to show materials or textures.

This includes:

• HATCH, SOLID, or GRADIENT fills

  Examples:

Concrete fills solid hatch

Grass hatch

Bathroom tile patterns

• Lines with repeating pattern linetypes

  Examples:

  

  Insulation patterns

  

  Structural wall patterns

• Finish patterns that are drawn manually using many lines

Examples: dense linework filling a surface

Wood slats flooring pattern

Decking floor pattern

Good Example

Clean wall outlines only, with clear layer separation between walls, windows, and doors.

WALL

• All walls must be fully closed, meaning wall outlines must form continuous, closed shapes with no gaps, breaks, or open ends.
